OreFolk is a game for iPhone and iPad, coming to Android. This page explains what information the game and this website use, why, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. In short: your own worlds stay on your device, your account keeps only what the game needs, and we never sell your information.
Who we are
OreFolk is made and run by an independent developer in Turkey, who is the data controller for the information described here ("we" and "us" on this page). The developer's name is the seller's name shown on OreFolk's App Store page. You can reach us at orefolk@zohomail.eu or with the support form in the game or on this website.
Playing on your own
Your worlds and your settings are saved on your device only. We do not receive them, and deleting the game deletes them with it. The game shows ads (see Advertising below) and has no analytics tools of its own.
The game needs the internet to play. When it starts, when you come back to it and from time to time while you play, it asks our own server whether it can be reached. This sends nothing but what every internet connection sends, such as your IP address.
Your account
Online play, your gems and the looks you own need an account. You sign in with Apple (and later Google); we never see your password. From them we receive an identifier for your account and, if they give it, your email address (Apple lets you hide it behind an address of its own). With your account we keep:
- the name you choose in the game (it does not have to be your real name, and we recommend that it is not),
- your gems and every change to them, the looks and accessories you own and wear, and what you bought with gems,
- the purchases you made with money: what you bought, when, and the store's number for the purchase,
- the looks you paint in the workshop,
- your level, your rank and your stats from the servers, such as time played and blocks broken,
- whether you are a moderator, and the sign-ins of your devices and browsers (each keeps a key; we keep only a scrambled copy of it).
To keep a player who was banned from coming back with another account, we also keep, for 90 days, which networks your account signed in and joined servers from. We never keep a network's address itself: only a code made from it with a secret key, which cannot be turned back into the address. Accounts that share a network are shown only to our moderators, as a clue and never as proof. If your account is banned, we keep the ban, its reason and its length with the account.
You can delete your account at any time: in the game (Profile, then Delete account) or on this website's account page. This deletes everything kept with it, and if you signed in with Apple we also ask Apple to end the link between your Apple ID and OreFolk. Some things stay after an account is deleted, without your name or account: the records of purchases made with money, so that no purchase is ever given twice and a refund can be handled; a ban or an unpaid refund, kept against a scrambled copy of your Apple or Google identifier so that it cannot be escaped by deleting the account; and a painted look another player reported, until a moderator has looked at it.
Playing online
When you join a server, it receives your account's name, level and rank, the look you wear, where you are and how you move, what you do in the world, the messages you write and your IP address. Other players see your name, your look, what you build and what you write in the chat. Messages, signs, books and names are checked by a word filter. The looks you paint can be seen by the other players on the server.
The server keeps its world, with what you built and what you carry, and a record of what you did: when you joined and left, what you wrote, your trades, sales and purchases with gems, the land you claimed and what moderators did. We use these records to keep the game fair, to settle reports and to deal with cheating and abuse. They belong to the season's world: when a season ends, its world is archived with them, and that archive is deleted when the next season ends. Reports you make, or that are made about you, are seen by our moderators.
Purchases
Gems, the starter pack, ranks and Remove Ads can be bought with real money. Payments are handled by the App Store (and later Google Play) under their own terms: we never see your payment details. For each purchase, the store tells our server what was bought, when and its purchase number, and later whether it was renewed, refunded or cancelled, so that we can check it and give it to your account once. Everything but Remove Ads needs an account.
Advertising
The game shows ads from Google AdMob: an ad between play sessions now and then, and videos you may choose to watch for gems. Remove Ads stops the ads between sessions. To show ads, Google's software in the game receives information from your device, such as its advertising identifier, its IP address and model, and how you interact with the ads, under Google's privacy policy. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the game first asks for your consent to personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings, Privacy. On iPhone and iPad the advertising identifier is used only if you allow it when your device asks. We never send Google your account, your messages or anything from your worlds. When Google tells our server that you watched a video to its end, it tells us only which ad it was and an identifier for your account, so that the gems go to the right player.
Writing to us
When you write to us, by email or with the support form in the game or on this website, we receive your email address, your message and what goes with it, such as your device's model, the game's version and your name in the game. Both forms only open your own mail app with an email to us: nothing is sent until you send it from there, and it reaches our inbox like any email. We use your messages only to answer you and to fix what you report, and we delete them a year after our last reply at the latest.
This website
orefolk.com sets no cookies and has no advertising or tracking. It remembers in your browser the language you chose and, while you are signed in on the account page, a key for your sign-in, which is gone when you close the tab. Signing in on the account page opens Apple's sign-in window and loads Apple's sign-in script from Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. The company that hosts the site may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time to keep it secure.
Why we use your information
We use your information only for the reasons below, which data protection laws such as Turkey's KVKK (Law No. 6698) and the European Union's GDPR recognise:
- to give you the game and your account, and to carry out what you bought (our contract with you),
- to keep the game safe and fair: the word filter, the records on the servers, the network codes and bans (our legitimate interest, and yours as a player),
- to keep the records the law asks of us,
- personalised ads only with your consent, where the law asks for it; you can take it back at any time in the game's settings.
Who processes your information
We do not sell your information. These companies process it on our behalf or under their own terms, only for what is described above:
- Railway Corporation (United States) runs our account server, the game's servers and this website, on servers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) answers for this website's address (orefolk.com) and delivers its pages through its network, which sees your IP address and the pages you open.
- Apple handles signing in with Apple and purchases on the App Store; Google will handle them on Android.
- Google shows the ads, as described above.
- Zoho (on servers in the European Union) hosts our email inbox, where the messages you write to us arrive.
Some of these companies are in, or may reach your information from, countries outside Turkey and the European Union, such as the United States. We use them only under the safeguards the law asks for, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, for Turkey, the standard contracts and other means allowed by KVKK Article 9.
How long we keep it
- Your account and what is kept with it: until you delete it.
- The codes of the networks an account came from: 90 days.
- The changes to your gems: each one for 180 days, then only monthly totals while the account lasts.
- A season's records on the servers: until the season after it ends.
- Support messages: a year after our last reply at the latest.
- Purchase records: as long as needed to handle refunds and the records the law asks of us.
Children
OreFolk is meant for players of 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it. Signing in needs an Apple or Google account, which follows their age rules. Ads in the game are limited to those suitable for teenagers. On the servers, younger players should use a made-up name and talk to their parents before chatting with other players.
Your rights
You can ask us whether we process information about you, what we hold and why, who we gave it to, and to correct it, delete it or stop using it; you can also object to a decision made only by automated means and ask for compensation for harm caused by unlawful processing (KVKK Article 11; under the GDPR also to receive your information in a portable form and to restrict its use). You can delete your account yourself, in the game or on this website. Write to orefolk@zohomail.eu from the address you play with, or use the support form; we answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to Turkey's Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) or to the data protection authority of your country.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at its top.
